Government Degree College, Sunderbani organised a Debate Competition to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, under the aegis of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat”. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Rakesh Sharma, Convener, Cultural Committee, with the objective of spreading awareness about the life, ideals and nation-building contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel among students. The programme was graced by the Principal of the College Dr. Vandana Verma as the Chief Guest. The competition was adjudged by a distinguished jury comprising Dr. Kuldeep Raj Sharma, Prof. Atal Bharti and Prof. Rajat Bhardwaj, who appreciated the confidence, clarity of thought and oratory skills of the participants. A total of six students participated in the debate competition. Survi Sharma secured the first position, followed by Girja Gupta who bagged the second position, while Sarbjeet Kour secured the third position. The entire event was efficiently hosted and managed by Dr. Reenu Sharma, Lecturer, Department of Hindi. Other faculty members including Prof. Nisha Kumari, Dr. Karan Dev Jamwal and Dr. Shakoor Ahmad, along with student volunteers, extended their full cooperation in ensuring the smooth conduct of the programme. The Principal congratulated the winners and participants and appreciated the efforts of the Cultural Committee and organising team for the successful execution of the event. The programme concluded on a patriotic note, inspiring students to imbibe the values of unity, integrity and leadership as exemplified by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

GDC, Sunderbani celebrates 77th Republic Day with patriotic fervour.

Government Degree College, Sunderbani celebrated the 77th Republic Day of India on 26th January 2026 with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour on the college campus. The event witnessed active participation from faculty members, students, and the NCC Unit of the college. The celebration commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag by the Principal, Dr. Vandana Verma, followed by the National Anthem. The fluttering tricolour symbolized the spirit of unity, democracy, and constitutional values. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Vandana Verma highlighted the historical significance of Republic Day and emphasized the role of students and youth in upholding the ideals of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. She encouraged students to contribute responsibly towards nation building. The NCC cadets played a prominent role in the celebrations by maintaining discipline, participating in the ceremonial proceedings, and displaying exemplary commitment and patriotism. Patriotic songs, and cultural performances presented by students added colour and meaning to the occasion, reflecting India’s rich cultural heritage and unity in diversity. At the conclusion of the programme, mementos alongwith certificates were presented to the participants as a token of appreciation for their enthusiastic involvement and commendable performances during the academic year 2025-26. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the NCC Unit, organizing committee, and all participants. The Republic Day celebration at GDC, Sunderbani reinforced a deep sense of national pride, unity, and dedication among all present.

GDC Sunderbani Organizes Plantation Drive under Second Phase of Vande Mataram Celebrations

Government Degree College (GDC) Sunderbani organized a plantation drive under the second phase of the Vande Mataram celebrations to commemorate 150 years of the National Song, “Vande Mataram.” The programme was organized under the banner of the Eco Club of GDC Sunderbani with the objective of promoting environmental awareness along with national pride.

The plantation drive was conducted within the college campus and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff. A variety of saplings were planted to enhance green cover and encourage ecological sustainability.

The programme was held under the guidance and supervision of the Principal, Dr. Vandana Verma, who highlighted the importance of linking patriotic values with environmental responsibility. She emphasized that protecting nature is an integral part of serving the nation and urged students to actively participate in conservation activities.

The event concluded with a pledge by all participants to protect and nurture the planted saplings and to work collectively for a cleaner, greener, and sustainable future.

Seminar on the Constitution of India organized at Government Degree College Sunderbani.

Government Degree College Sunderbani today organised a seminar on the Constitution of India under the aegis of Cultural Committee of the College to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram. The seminar was aimed at sensitizing students to the constitutional values, democratic ideals, and national ethos that form the foundation of the Indian Republic. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members. Dr. Shakoor Ahmed, faculty member of Political Science acted as the Resource Person who delivered an enlightening presentation supported by a comprehensive PowerPoint elaborating on the philosophy, fundamental rights, preamble, other salient features, and contemporary relevance of the Constitution of India. His scholarly exposition was highly appreciated by the audience. As part of the seminar proceedings, students were assessed for their academic engagement. Ms. Sohani Rajput of 4th Semester secured the First Position, Ms. Survi Sharma of 6th Semester bagged the Second Position, while Ms. Anshu Sharma of 4th Semester secured Third position. The achievers were felicitated with mementos along with certificates, while all participating students were awarded certificates in recognition of their active involvement. The programme concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks by Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Convener of the Seminar, who expressed sincere gratitude to the resource person, college administration, faculty members, students, and the organizing committee for their valuable cooperation. The seminar concluded on a patriotic note, reaffirming faith in the Constitution of India and the enduring spirit of Vande Mataram.
